Kuyro Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what data Kuyro may collect or store, why it is needed, how it is used, and what choices you have.
Kuyro is a game-like movement and virtual-territory app. Because parts of the app depend on activity and location data, we aim to keep only what is needed and to be clear about privacy and restoration limits.
1. Data we may process
Depending on how you use Kuyro, the app may process or store:
- account information, such as username, account ID, and sign-in state (registration uses a username and password; a phone number is optional and not required for v1);
- profile information, such as display name, avatar, level, points, and settings;
- activity summaries, such as activity type, time, distance, duration, status, and required calculation data;
- territory data, such as claimed cells, virtual ownership state, claim progress, and game records;
- achievements, rankings, streaks, and in-app statistics;
- local device data, such as sessions, settings, and offline progress;
- limited diagnostic data, such as app version, service mode, non-sensitive errors, and diagnostic markers.
2. Location data
To record activities and calculate territory, Kuyro may use device location permission when activity recording is active. This data is needed to calculate movement, distance, territory cells, and activity validity.
Background location. With your explicit permission, Kuyro can keep recording an active activity even when the app is in the background or the screen is off, using an Android foreground location service shown by an ongoing notification. Background location is used only during an active recording and stops when you finish or discard the activity. It is optional: if you decline, recording continues only while the app is open, and may stop when the screen is locked or the app is backgrounded. Device battery optimizations or force-stopping the app can also interrupt recording.
Kuyro should not keep raw GPS traces, full route histories, or raw polygons as the primary account-restoration source. Some precise route-level data may remain only on your device and may not be recoverable after deleting the app, clearing device data, or changing devices. Raw routes/traces/polygons are not uploaded to the server; the backend receives only privacy-safe territory/cell and account data.
3. Local data and accounts
The current Kuyro experience is partly local-first. Some data is stored on your device first and may later be synced or restored when you sign in and have a suitable connection.
If you use Kuyro as a guest, data may remain only on that device. If you later sign in, guest progress may be linked to that account. Once data is linked to an account, the app should prevent it from being silently transferred to another account.
4. Why we use data
We use data to:
- create and manage accounts;
- record activities and calculate statistics;
- calculate virtual territory and game progress;
- show achievements, rankings, and records;
- restore part of your data after signing in again;
- prevent cheating, abuse, and serious errors;
- debug, improve stability, and provide support.
5. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not provide your data for behavioral advertising, data-broker sales, or third-party advertising profiles.
We may use hosting, database, map, storage, notification, or other technical infrastructure providers as needed to operate Kuyro. These services are used only as necessary for the app to function.
We may review or disclose required data if required by law, a valid order, security needs, or abuse prevention.
6. Cookies, analytics, and tracking
Kuyro's public legal pages should not use cookies, advertising scripts, analytics scripts, or third-party trackers. If analytics or tracking tools are added to the website or app in the future, this policy must be updated clearly.
7. Security
We try to use reasonable safeguards, such as limited access, secure token storage, secure transport, and reduction of unnecessary sensitive data.
No software system or internet transmission is completely risk-free. You should also use a strong password, keep your device secure, and use an up-to-date version of the app.
8. Your choices
You can change some device permissions, such as location access, through your operating system settings. Restricting permissions may limit or disable some Kuyro features, especially activity recording and territory features.

9. Children
Kuyro is designed for informed general use and should not be used by children who are not allowed under applicable rules to create an account or use such services independently. If you believe data from a child has been submitted without required consent, contact support.
10. Data retention
Data is kept as long as needed to provide the service, maintain security, restore accounts, resolve disputes, comply with applicable requirements, or support operational needs. Local data may remain on your device until you delete the app or clear device data.
11. Changes to this policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the product, infrastructure, laws, or data practices change. The latest update date appears at the top of the page.
